Brian Johnson, 45, rose to fame as a fitness influencer due in large part to his schtick---eating copious amounts of offal, or the organ meat from butchered animals, which gained him the moniker of "The Liver King."
However, now that his buff body has been revealed to be a product of his steroid habit, Johnson---along with his businesses, Ancestral Supplements, LLC and The Fittest Ever, LLC---are facing a $25 million class-action lawsuit alleging he used deceptive marketing tactics to hawk his products.
The lawsuit, filed by Cotter Law Group in New York on Wednesday, claims that Johnson pushed "a dangerous and life-threatening diet" of uncooked organ meats and testicles that caused "a large portion of consumers who relied on [his] misrepresentations" to suffer from "severe and other foodborne illnesses." Going on, it states, "Liver King persuaded millions of consumers to adhere to, or abide by" the diet "by repeatedly making representations to consumers that his near-perfect physique, and optimal health, were solely attributed to his adoption of the Ancestral Tenets" he promoted.
While he had previously denied use of performance-enhancing drugs, Johnson came clean about his steroid habit in early December 2022. That would've been a more honorable act had it not followed a journalist's release of emails from the influencer in which he admitted to being on a regimen of steroids costing $11,000/month.
Cotter Law Group told FOX Business that it "is dedicated to holding Brian Johnson a/k/a ‘Liver King’ and his affiliates accountable for their deceptive business practices and for misleading consumers nationwide." And, while there is currently only one defendant in the suit against Johnson, the firm says they received "numerous inquiries about additional prospective" class-action suits against the defendants.
