According to a press release from Enoch City, Utah's City Manager, Rob Dotson, a family of eight was found shot to death inside their home in Enoch City on Wednesday.
Dotson identified the suspect as Michael Haight, 42. The two adult victims were his wife, Tausha Haight, 40, and her mother, Gail Earl, 78. The rest of the victims were the couple's five children--three girls [17, 12 & 7] and two boy [7 & 4].
According to the release, evidence suggests that the suspect took his own life after killing the seven others in the home.
The day prior to discovery, police responded to a welfare check at the residence, approximately 245 miles outside of Salt Lake City, Utah, which was requested by family and friends who had not heard from the victims.
Along with the release, Dotson offered, "We join with all who are deeply saddened by this tragic incident and want to express our condolences to the family and friends of the victims."
Utah Governor Spencer Cox and Lt. Governor Deidre Henderson both tweeted, calling for the public to keep the Enoch City community their prayers.
The investigation is still ongoing.
